How We Help

We use the money that we raise or have been given in many ways. Some we give to individuals and some we give to other organisations that provide face-to-face and other services to people with a learning disability in Mid-Sussex.

Over the years we have used funds to support other organisations that provide direct services to people with a learning disability in Mid-Sussex, including

The Nursery Playgroup for children with additional needs,

Mid-Sussex Council for Voluntary Services,

Circles Network for their work in promoting wellbeing for people with a learning disability in Mid-Sussex,

Ash Cottage, Rowan House and Aspen Lodge,

The advocacy organisation 'Mid-Sussex Speak-Up' to help with the 'Thumbs Up' Campaign,

Windmills Opportunity Playgroup for young children with additional needs,

Kangaroos for the work that they do in providing holiday playschemes, youth activities and Saturday Clubs

Tentercroft,

Wellspring Homes,

Court Meadow School (Later Woodlands Meed School and College) including Past Hands,

Signposts Mid-Sussex for all the work that they do in providing a range of varied activities during the week.

Burnside Day Centre,

The Social Light Club,

We also use these funds to fund events that we arrange during the year. These include

Gateway Clubs in Burgess hill and East Grinstead,

An annual Photo and Video Competition which attracts over 20 videos and over 1,000 photos from people with a learning disability in East and West Sussex,

An annual Art competition which attracts over 100 works of art from people with a learning disability across East and West Sussex,

And we have helped individual people by making donations which either pay for or have helped towards the cost of:

Taxi fares to visit relatives,

Taxi fares to get to College,

A special iPad with predictive communication technology,

Providing a new boiler in a room conversion for a disabled person,
